Well, well, well, British Gas has increased it's profits.
Now that will come as a shock to few people, especially when we all know what they charge us, and how much prices have increased over the last year or so.
But they had to because the cost of oil had gone up so much.
And even though the cost since then has dropped they see no reason to reduce the costs for gas accordingly.

The advert will not be shown again in its current form
A Burger King advertising campaign has been banned after complaints the chicken burger shown was bigger than the real thing, a watchdog has said.

BJJA GB Annual 2010

On Saturday 20th Feb 2010 we took two juniors to the BJJA GB annual competition in Walsall.
They both entered the Random attacks and the continuous fighting competitions.
Spencer - Bronze Medal Randon Attacks - Luca - Gold Medal Continual Fighting
Spencer went out in the early rounds of the continuous fighting much to his disappointment. That said he showed the crowds and the officials on the day that he has lots of potential for the future, and maybe it just wasn't his day. However he also entered the Random attacks and eventually lost in the semi finals to a lad who equipped himself really well in that bout. Spencer needed to go early and I know he felt a little disappointed that he didn't do better. But he can feel proud of himself for achieving what he did in his first ever Jujitsu competition, that was a fantastic result.
Luca, like Spencer suffered in one of his competitions where he went out early in the Random Attacks. Again this was Luca's first experience of a Jujitsu competition and this was intended to be a revealing day where he could gain experience and understand some of the pressures associated with competition. After not achieving as well as he wanted in the Randoms I think Luca had a little talk to himself and went full head on with the Continuous fighting competition. This is a competition which reflects on your ability at sparring, randori and ground-work. So what a fabulous result when Luca at just 14 years old went on to win the final and along the way he disposed of two Black Belts.
This was a fantastic day with plenty of really good competitions and some fantastic sportsmanship being displayed. Everyone who entered should be proud of their achievements regardless of whether they won a final or not. The organisers really made it a splendid day and the whole event was run smoothly and on time.
A great day - with some great results
Well done Luca and Spencer you can both be very proud of yourselves, we at the club are proud of you.

Be very aware is the rule, read the print
Today I received through the post, notice that I have been "pre-selected" to apply for a new Visa card.Well thats good news you would think, then you look at the rest of the advert.
This is from "VANQUIS BANK" who I have never heard of.
But then you read even more and you notice the viriable APR.
Go on guess what it is...
........
........
.......
Just incase you missed it........................................... it is 49.9%
Is this legal?
If it is legal, then it shouldn't be.
Wonder if you don't pay they send round the HEAVIES because it seems that this lot could be from that envoironment judging by what they want in return for their lending.
Someone must be able to do something about this sort of thing.
What about the poor sod who does sign up because they didn't read it properly, someone should be looking out for them surely.
Paternity Leave
New legislation due out means that there are going to be changes to the paternity laws.
Currently:
A mother can take up to 52 weeks paternity leave, 39 of which are with pay.
A father can take up to 2 weeks paid leave.
New rules will mean that mothers can transfer part of their entitlement to fathers if they return to work in the second half of the baby's first year.
It's bad enough that a small company can employ a young woman and then within a short time they have to pay for them to be off of work for 39 weeks while they adjust to their new life with a baby. But now if the mother want to go back to work the father can take the time off of work instead and he gets paid. This really is getting ridiculous.
How does a small business get through these times when every penny counts.
No wonder many small businesses are scared to employ young women.
Would you employ a potential new mother if you had a small business?
